Curriculum Statement & Policy

About Us

Ashley High School offers an enriched pupil centred and accredited curriculum which engages students and enables them to thrive and develop their independence. The wide range of subjects, learning experiences and accreditation on offer develop students both academically and personally, both in the classroom and off-site. We actively promote Global Learning, British Values, Thinking Skills and the development of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC) including through our Rights Respecting School programme. In 2016, with the aim of further improving learning outcomes for students, we worked as a pilot school with the British Council to introduce and embed the following 6 CORE SKILLS across our curriculum:

  • Collaboration and Communication
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Creativity and Imagination
  • Citizenship
  • Digital Literacy
  • Student Leadership and Personal Development.

For more information and examples of how these core skills are delivered at Key Stage 3, please see the tab 'Promoting Core Skills'.

For all termly content being delivered across the range of subjects, please see the tab Curriculum Maps 2018-19. These are reviewed and updated annually.

We are proud of our curriculum at Ashley High and are continually reviewing and updating to give our students the best possible learning experiences in order that they achieve their full potential. Please see the Curriculum Policy below for further information.
