PSHCE

About Us

PSHCE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) is at the very heart of Ashley High School's ethos and curriculum. Weekly PSHCE lessons help all our students develop as individuals in a wider society. Our students learn to understand themselves physically, emotionally, socially and sexually and to understand their relationships with others.

PSHCE has strong cross curricular links and is taught within many other areas of the curriculum and through the work of our School Council and various student committees.

At Key Stage 3 and 4 students follow a bespoke programme and cover units including: Relationships, Living in the Wider World, Health and Wellbeing and Careers.

Year 10 and Year 11 students also access the Independent Travel Training programme provided by Halton Borough Council.

All students in Key Stage 3 and 4 also engage in Weekly Personal Development lessons and Skills lessons linked to the Essential Skills. These lessons encourage our students to develop skills in the following areas:
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Creativity
  • Problem Solving
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Aiming High
  • Staying Positive

These lessons consist of a wide range of fun, practical and often project based activities.
