School Hours and Transport
The School hours are 9.00am to 3.00pm. Free transport is provided for students. There is an Escort on all the coaches. Please see your child is at the pick-up points in plenty of time to avoid delay or non-attendance. Actual arrangements regarding time and place of pick up are made by the Education Office and will be confirmed by letter to you as parents.

Your son/daughter can wear any of the popular kits available in the shops or any warm clothing, which is suitable (not clothes they would wear for school). Old pair of trainers or football boots would be useful outside.
School Dinners
All students who stay for dinner; the meals are prepared on the premises. School meals cost £2.50 per day - £12.50 a week, paid on Monday mornings. You can send a packed lunch if you prefer.
Absence from School
If your child is absent for any reason, please telephone or send a brief note of explanation as soon as possible.
Holidays
From 1st September 2013 The Education Regulations 2013 amends the 2006 Regulations and makes clear that Head teachers may NOT grant leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Where a student is absent from school without permission of the school, the parent/carer of the student may be issued with a £60 Penalty Notice per parent per child. If the notice remains unpaid after 21 days the penalty increases to £120. If the notice remains unpaid after 28 days the Local Authority may commence proceedings under section 444(1) of the 1996 Education Act in the Magistrates Court.
Medication
If your child is prescribed medication the school will request that you fill in the necessary form before it can be administered.

To help your child we need your co-operation. You are always welcome at Ashley High; it is also our hope that you will be able to attend the various functions that are arranged during the course of each year.
Pens, Pencils etc.
Please make sure that your child is provided with pens, pencils, crayons, ruler, rubber etc. It is important that they arrive in class prepared for the lesson.
Homework
We believe that learning at home as well as at school is an essential part of our students' education. It is an essential part of the learning journey in all subjects across school.
On average a student should expect to receive the following:-
Disability Discrimination Act 1995
The governors support the needs of disabled children within the constraints of the building. Any refurbishment takes into account the guidelines within the Act. The school has also produced an Accessibility Plan for 2006/2009 and is available for inspection at any time.
Complaints
If you have a complaint that cannot be resolved by a member of staff, the Headteacher will explain the complaints procedure. You may then make a written complaint to the Governors. Any parent still not satisfied may have the complaint heard by an independent committee from Halton Local Education Authority.
On the extremely exceptional occasions where there is a clearly defined and legally acceptable reason for a complaint to go straight to Stage 3 and be heard by the Governing Body's complaint appeal panel, the panel should promptly seek advice from the Governor Support Service before taking any action to call a hearing.
